Cant connect to localhost

So i downloaded the .exe and tried to download a world of the server from my friend. I put the right IP in the .exe but when i try to join the localhost:25565 an error message appears on the downloader .exe.

Cannot connect to ( the ip of the server ). The server may be down or on a different address. (java.net.UnknownHostException)

the server does work and yeah i dont know what causes the error message. Also the Windows defender said that the .exe is weird but i could allow it to run.
