There's actually both setAlignment and setVerticalAlignment in POI

Hey martin, First, I wanted to say how much I appreciate this package. My team is exclusive excel users and it is allowing me to leverage all R's functionality while making automated reports. Secondly I was curious if there is functionality that allows the changing of alignment of cells.

Hi Chris, changing alignment is not yet available. So far priority for this has been very low. We'll re-evaluate whether this should be pushed. Thanks, Martin

Have you decided to implement this feature? It would be a great addition! I don't understand what you mean here "There's actually both setAlignment and setVerticalAlignment in POI"
