Issues with the Context Menu

Open punowo opened this issue 11 months ago • 8 comments

Hi. I'm on Win11 Pro, 22H2, build 2261.2070. I have installed archwsl and wsltty through scoop. Everything works except the context menu entries. For the moment I'm using 'Arch Terminal' and 'Arch Terminal %' from /scoop/apps/wsltty/current but I would really like have the context menu options. Even though I'm on Windows 11 I've turned off the new context menu and using the same thing that was available on Windows 10.

How can I help solve / debug this ? I see there's basically a POSIX shell that does the whole thing which is being passed to dash provided by mintty ?

I thought about the terminal context menu first, but maybe you mean the Windows desktop context menu? If so, I cannot help as long as I do not have Windows 11.

Yeah sorry. I should have been more clear. I meant the Windows Right Click Context Menu. Windows 11 added a new right click menu which is more, mobile friendly I guess, which offers the old right click menu as a last option. Some people like me disable this new one.

Thanks. Do you happen to have Windows 10 ?

Sure. So what's the issue? Are there any wsltty entries in your menu or did you try to get them in?

It shows up but nothing happens when I click on it. I clicked on "add default to context menu". Not related but if I run "configure WSL shortcuts" the Arch Linux ones will reappear but without an icon, opening them will give an error about not finding the icon but it will still work.

The desktop context menu entries seem to be the same as the configured folder context menu entries, for the Desktop folder. For me, they work but I also see some icon problems.

I don't think I'm following. What can I do to debug / help ? What WSl are you using ?

About the icon issue, I'll look into this myself but not so soon. About non-functional entries, I have no idea. Maybe you uninstalled a WSL distribution after installing wsltty?

I doubt this. I specifically uninstalled the default Ubuntu WSL, tried archwsl, started it, poked around and then thought of looking for a wslterm.
