I am unable to setup Bitwarden

Open KabirCampwala opened this issue 3 years ago • 11 comments

When I try to use the password manager it shows I enter the wrong password. I am unable to see my email that I entered so that I could cross check if it is correct.

@KabirCampwala Please follow the issue template, what Min version and OS are you using?

Sorry! I am using min version 1.20.0 and my OS is Windows 10.

Is this on the setup screen, or later when you're trying to log into a site and enter your master password?

Do you have 2FA enabled in Bitwarden? If so, we don't support that - #929.

It happens later when I am trying to log into a site and enter my master password. No I don't have 2FA enabled.

OK, the best thing to do is probably to try resetting the Bitwarden tool that Min uses. There isn't a UI for this unfortunately, but what you want to do is:

  1. Quit Min
  2. Open Command prompt and type:
C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Roaming\Min\tools\bw.exe logout
C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Roaming\Min\tools\bw.exe login

replacing <username> with your windows account username. Follow the prompts to sign into Bitwarden, and then restart Min.

It says "this app can't run on your PC" and then on command prompt it shows "Access is denied."

Are you using a 32- or 64-bit version of windows? Are there any restrictions on your computer that would prevent you from installing apps (like if this is your employers computer?)

PalmerAL avatar Jul 11 '21 19:07 PalmerAL

64 bit No restrictions. I tried using cmd as admin too.

Hmm, I'm out of obvious ideas. You could try deleting the "tools" folder in the path from my last comment, and then reinstall Bitwarden globally from here: https://bitwarden.com/help/article/cli/

Hey! Have you solved this? I am unable to install bitwarden as well. I am on arm mac os and when I drag the cli it asks me to fill cliend id and client secret but then it says that either creds or cli is invalid @PalmerAL

I am also having some issues with bitwarden installation. I was able to make it work, but the following two things made it problematic: I am able to download the bitwarden CLI tool. When I upload it, I am prompted to enter some API key. First off, the text below is wrong: image

In fact, you have to go to "Security" and then "keys": image Available at the URL "https://vault.bitwarden.com/#/settings/security/security-keys".

The second issue is that the popup that asks for the API key is on top of everyting, including the API information I am trying to copy. This window should not stay on top of other programs.
