Cell colors (input overlays) suddenly disappear

Generally happens with a mix of markdown and code cells.

The poly-ein-copy-state function needs stabilizing.

Workaround: kill and reopen buffer.

I'm having this problem. It would be nice if it was possible to at least reload the notebook (without killing) to get the colors working again.
