Unpacked MilkDrop 3.exe doesn't run
When I double-click the MilkDrop 3.exe, it doesn't run. It doesn't show an error. There aren't errors showing in the Event Log viewer of Windows. I have DirectX installed on Windows 10.
Same happened on my Exagear (using Wine), but idk how I solve it.
@Ximzend it run fine on thousand of computers. So you have a problem with your configuration. Make sure you follow my tutorial#1 : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OQdZFlOHe5o
I actually had the same issue when my PC was plugged into my AVR and outputting to my AVR sound system.. then, when I went back to standard PC speakers, it started to work again
Same problem here. As @phrostb said, it has to do with the audio output you use. For instance, MilkDrop3 runs fine when sending audio to my monitor through display port. But as soon as I use my Realtek sound card, the app just doesn't start without any error message. A workaround, at least for me, is to run MilkDrop as administrator which is better than nothing but I'm not a big fan of this solution.
@bobtsmsi you mean by launching MilkDrop3 as administrator fix your audio problem? in what folder did you install MilkDrop3?
I was first using the default folder that your installer offers to extract to, so a MilkDrop3 folder on the desktop. Now I run it from inside my Documents folder, with the exact same behavior.
What I meant was that I have to run the app as administrator if I want to use my Realtek soundcard (which I'm always using since I have my headphones plugged into it via jack) otherwise the app just doesn"t start.
On the other hand, I'm able to run it as normal user when the audio output is set to anything else like the display port directing audio to my monitor.
I didn't dig into it too much, but I imagine that when MilkDrop starts, and depending on what audio output is currently selected, it tries to access something related to the audio hardware that it shouldn't and has no permission to.
