In 1.20, I turned off that intercept global error.

Gonna close this since there's been a lot of devx improvements in the node/npm/etc proto stuff.

Did you ever resolve this in anyway? I'm looking into boxing errors to reduce enum sizes, and something like this would help being built-in.

Dependencies install in less than 45 seconds, typically around 15-20. Not really worth adding caching at this point.

Downloading and unpacking an archive over the network will still take similar times. Caching isn't really necessary.

This would be useful for RN props also.
