[Request] TikTok Stories Support
Would it be possible to implement story downloads, or is it something impossible due to being available only on mobile? Manually downloading TikTok stories from a profile is tedious, since you have to manually copy each story link and look for some external site to download them. (and by the way, the intervention of a cell phone is absolutely necessary) It would be great to be able to download stories in bulk, without having to download them manually. Greetings.

you can view people tiktok stories on the web after you login i believe, I just dont know what triggers to get the url link to the post.

That's the reason for this post. You can't view it on your desktop or on the web, only on mobile devices, which makes it very difficult to scrape, since you absolutely need a mobile phone to download it. Hopefully a solution will be found.
you can just share the story link with yourself and post it in a web browser on the computer and get the full url and then download it with yt-dlp
you used to be able to view stories on the website on the desktop before. it would show that teal color circle around a user profile picture when you view it

~~I knew about it, as I mentioned, but it doesn't work with private accounts, for example.~~ I stand corrected, in general Snaptiktok isn't that good, as it doesn't always download stories in the highest resolution, so it wouldn't be an effective solution in these cases.
@mikf I think that now that the stories can be viewed on the web, it would be a good opportunity.
I should look into this whenever I find the time to rework the TikTok extractor to remove yt-dlp as a dependency.
Story support has been added (but not to master yet), barring a bit of polishing. Stories are extracted automatically and separately from a user's post feed, meaning any tiktok-range option won't apply to stories. You can specify -o stories=only in the command-line to extract and download only stories, or -o stories to exclude stories altogether. -o videos and -o photos can be used to exclude video stories and photo stories respectively.
You cannot yet extract and download the story feeds of the users you follow using one command, although there appears to be a separate but very similar endpoint (/api/story/user_list instead of /api/story/item_list) that we could use for this. Perhaps giving https://www.tiktok.com/following to gallery-dl could accomplish this?
I have added support for https://www.tiktok.com/following now, but only for stories as I've previously described (I think downloading all of the posts of all of the accounts you follow is overboard for a single extraction).
