You can add nitter: at the start of the URL for unsupported nitter instances.

How can I do it? Can you give an example because I tested it

What didn't work? did it give you the same error or another error?

gallery-dl nitter:https://tweet.whateveritworks.org/NatGeo/media should work, though right now the instance is being rate limited so I can't really test, but I do this all the time for various instances.

I got two errors

You've called gallery-dl with "gallery-dl" as argument

As of this: https://status.d420.de/ currently the only nitter instance that still seems to work is https://nitter.privacydev.net/

All others instances have closed down on account that nitter itself cannot access twitter anymore see also: https://status.d420.de/rip

So even the instance above often reports (for obvious reasons) of being rate limited and it takes a while and several retries for various minutes to get anything out.

Is there any other way to access twitter without making a twitter account?

If not can Gallery-DL work with how limited that last instance of nitter is and allow it all of the time needed time to get the images?

Let me not open the can of worms about Elon and stuff this is not the place for it, suffice it to say i really do not wish to get an eX-twitter account, but also several artists i like the art of have only an eX-twitter account.

i'd prefer not. If there is even a single alternative that makes me wait 40 hours to get a few images i'll take that over getting a twitter account.
