https://www.tumbex.com/ Its basically a tumblr but in way better, archiving pics and vids from old or new tumblr accounts. If its possible to do something it would be great, thanks

+1 please add this site.it's one of the better tumblr viewers for discovering content but downloading isn't easy as it could be.

Can you still use this site to access content from (recently) deleted tumblers?

Can you still use this site to access content from (recently) deleted tumblers?

sometimes if you found a site that reblogged the deleted tumblr posts.

I've seen many posts with a "deactivated" label on them.

yes if thay are already indexed by tumbex

Yes, but this is even true for Tumblr itself. There are still some Tumbl logs around, abandoned yet still existing, (sometimes hidden, sometimes even normal ones) that have reblogged the posts from the bigger, more famous NSFW blogs from the past, which have been deleted in the Great Tumblr Purge. So, as those reblogged posts, they are still available. But there's one big problem: Unless those reblogging Tumblr logs have actually reblogged every single post from the bigger, deleted logs from the past, like really every single one, 1:1, the majority of these old posts is still lost. And I don't think I've ever seen a reblog log that has mirrored the posts with the "original" content to 100%. They were still manually run blogs, by different users, and even if they followed some other, bigger Tumblr log religiously, there was never a guarantee that they would really reblog everything without exception.

yes if thay are already indexed by tumbex

What does that mean? How/when did Tumbex index Tumblr logs? By age, or only big logs with many followers? Or did you somehow had to manually activate such an indexing on Tumbex?

There used to be a site that would mirror the content from deleted blogs on Tumblr, at least for a certain timeframe. I was initially thinking that Tumbex was that site, but I am actually not sure anymore...

I'm on this right now because I was just checking a couple of Tumblr links I've saved not long ago, and I discovered that one of the blogs has been LITERALLY DELETED LAST WEEK.

New Tumblr is really the plague.

Anyway, I've also checked Tumbex with a couple of different old, new, big and small Tumblr logs, and the images are all direct links to Tumblr's (mediaNN.tumblr.com....), i.e. they are still all hosted by Tumblr. Not only that, but Tumbex was even missing some full resolution images on a blog that was recently updated. I've noticed that you can login with an account on Tumbex - although you can create a new one, apparently. At least I didn't found it. This might be different when using Tumbex with an account. but honestly, I don't think so.

Where does this leave us with this specific issue here? Unless there is still a way to access a (recently) deleted blog on Tumblr via Tumbex, Tumbex itself is nothing more than a viewer for Tumblr, or a different frontend, if you want. It has more viewing and sorting etc. options than more minimalistic Tumblr viewers, like https://cascadr.co/ for example. It's also a bit slower to quickly browser through the images, on the other hand.

To recap in my humble opinion, this site request is therefore pretty pointless, because it's just another frontend, the content is still on Tumblr itself, and if you want to download something it'll still be from Tumblr in any way, but of course it's up to @mikf to decide..

Hmm, were any of those blogs/uploads deleted off Tumblr ? I was inclined to say maybe Tumbex is using the original links to save bandwidth until it's gone from Tumblr, but now I ain't sure cuz by my understanding, what is deleted off Tumblr, it's actually gone, link and all, immediately.

yt-dlp is able to download nsfw tumblr links containing videos, can their method be imitated?
