Internet Explorer Windows XP and Vista Virtual Machines

A few years ago Microsoft launched modern.ie which included virtual machine images of all their browsers going as far back as IE 6 in Windows XP.

Unfortunately Microsoft has since removed all of the Windows XP and Vista images, their reason being that support for both OSes has ended. Unfortunately people do still use the venerable Windows XP, and I recently found myself in need of a copy of IE8 on XP to test an SSL certificate.

Fortunately I discovered that the download URLs still work. Download these while you still can:

Internet Explorer 6 on Windows XP

Internet Explorer 7 on Windows Vista
