The movement scheme is based on common browsers, like Firefox and Chromium, assumed to be a good approximation of what users find intuitive.

I realize that would be a change WRT the current behavior, and honestly I'm not too attached to it. I can switch to any other combination for the modifier keys if that's preferred.

Not convinced it makes sense to change as the default, given you're often constantly scrolling in X/Y directions and need quick access to zoom in/out as well. I think the current model matches well with usage, and would be hard to change from under people who are used to it. Might make sense to have as an option, or with a modifier key?

I can probably adapt to any other modifier combination. What would your favorite one be? Basically you have to choose a modifier (including no modifier) for each of zoom, pan horizontally and pan vertically.
