chromium freezes when selecting "no thanks!"

Open zxyz opened this issue 8 years ago • 10 comments

hello,

on a fresh install on a nexus 5x chromium freezes when pressing "no thanks" when beeing asked if I want to sign in to chrome.

I created a google account with google play (which works), but when trying to use this account with chromium and entering the email address it says: this account is already on this device.

If I create a new account with chromium after having finished the creation of the account I'm getting asked to enter the phone pin again and am back at the beginning of the create an account dialog.

just did a fresh install of plain copperheados, there chromium works without asking any questions :)

~~Haven't had that issue on Nexus 5X.~~ Which version of CopperheadOS is it?

Just did another install on a new Nexus 6P. All latest configs. Same problem. Chrome freezes.

I've had this problem as well. @mikeperry-tor and I are currently working on a build which uses Gapps nano instead of pico to see if it resolves the issue.

FWIW, @zxyz, if you're okay with installing and using regular Chrome, that seems to work fine even when Chromium has this bug.

I take back my comment from December 9th, I am seeing this problem also.

@isislovecruft thanks. Copperhead has a hardened chromium, so chrome would not have been an option for me. I switched back to pure copperheados and since copperhead is providing noise[1] as a non-google-push-service signal fork I'm very happy with it.

The angler build of the latest release, 2017-05-01, now works with a fresh install.
