Would it be possible to implement a column marker, or alternatively a way to resize the window so that the ASCII view fits exactly X columns?

Can you give me a use-case so I can better understand your request?

I was thinking about something to help me keep the ASCII text limited to a maximum of, say, 100 characters per line.

But now that I've discovered that in non-GitHub mode format also breaks lines, I'd modulate that request: Can we have a configurable width at which format breaks lines?
