Investigate KanjiTalk 6.x

Open mihaip opened this issue 1 year ago • 2 comments

https://www.macintoshrepository.org/44346-kanjitalk6-2 claims to be System 6.2J (which is a very unusual version number). Either way, there definitely were pre-7.0 releases of KanjiTalk that might be interesting to include

https://blog.gingerbeardman.com/2023/11/07/japanese-lanuage-support-on-classic-macintosh/ has a bit more context on Japanese system software

That link was provided by a friend. On the same site is https://www.macintoshrepository.org/44350-kanjitalk6-0-2, which is a more-normally numbered version of the OS.

https://apple.fandom.com/wiki/KanjiTalk has a more detailed history of KanjiTalk, though it doesn’t know about a “6.2J” either.

Hi, FYI, the first link (KanjiTalk6.2) is not KanjiTalk 6.2. It's what looks like an archive of System 6 floppy disk images in various languages and it's a duplicate of this one anyway: https://www.macintoshrepository.org/1094-system-6-international-collection

Languages: Arabic Chinese Czech Danish Dutch English Faeroese Finnish French German Greek Hebrew Hungarian Icelandic Italian Norwegian Persian Portuguese Russian Spanish Swedish Taiwanese Turkish Yugoslavian Korean Japaneese (Kanji)

...and the Japaneese (Kanji) folder contains only those releases of KanjiTalk: J-6.0.2 J-6.0.2.4 J-6.0.4 J-6.0.7

No idea why that Russian member named the page "6.2". It's probably a typo since the first of the included KanjiTalk releases is "6.0.2". I removed the page. Sorry about that.
