[FEATURE] Ability to search card content in lookup browser

Open saxoncameron opened this issue 3 years ago • 2 comments

Context, from Bent:

The data on the cards is encoded to allow it being processed properly, not to obfuscate anything. For searching for kanji by keywords etc, would a separate search mode in the lookup window be enough? https://discord.com/channels/752293144917180496/905157925763416084/905174446204129310

Additional context from wholesalegerbils in issue #138:

Currently, there are only three ways for you to return to a kanji you've learned: Have it show up again in Anki so you can ctrl+shift+k something that includes the kanji, know the kanji well enough to search via the kanji itself with the "Kanji Lookup" tool, or look at the big list in your kanji stats. There are many times when I will get a kanji wrong and think that it looks very similar to another Kanji I know but be unable to find it quickly because I don't know any vocab with that kanji in it well enough to "produce" it.

Normally, you would be able to search through a card's attributes through the traditional Anki browse function but most of this data is not available due to the way Migaku Anki God has its cards setup.

To clarify on the intended future-functionality, we intend to make all content within the kanji card "searchable" via the lookup browser. This won't be super simple because we'll need to make a search results list etc., but it's not super complex either.

Definitely something that is missing at the moment.
