The extension 'Github' repeatedly asks to sing in using Github

Every time I do something git related, I get a popup saying 'The extension 'Github' wants to sing in using Github.'. I dont see a way to disable it. If i simply click Cancel it pops up again next time I do something git related. Things like making a commit in the terminal or clicking on the source control side pannel will trigger it. It is very annoying. I havent found any setting to disable it. Doesnt happen when not using code-insiders.
In the output pannel i see the log message [warning] [GitHubSourceControlHistoryItemDetailsProvider][_loadAssignableUsers] Failed to load assignable user(s) for <Github repo>: Error: User did not consent to login.
