Feature Request: Quickly Display Active Settings Sync Account in UI
Hi VS Code Team,
I'm writing to propose a feature request regarding the native Settings Sync functionality.
Problem: Currently, when Settings Sync is active, it's not immediately obvious to the user which specific Microsoft or GitHub account is currently being used for synchronization. While the "Accounts" icon in the Activity Bar indicates that an account is logged in, and clicking it allows for account management, it doesn't prominently display the active sync account (e.g., username or email) at a glance.
Users who manage multiple personal and work accounts (both GitHub and Microsoft) or simply want to quickly confirm their sync status might find it cumbersome to verify which account is active. They might have to rely on memory or dig into the Output channels to confirm.
Proposed Solution / Suggestion: I suggest enhancing the user interface to provide a quicker way for users to see the active Settings Sync account. Here are a few ideas:
Example:
Change the existing menu item Settings Sync is On to:
Settings Sync is On (GitHub: [email protected])
or
Settings Sync is On (Microsoft: [email protected])
