Steps to Reproduce:
- Open a large markdown file with plenty of bold markups in vs code (example 24_sAdhyopAya-shodhanAdhikAraH.md ), with the Markdown language basics builtin plugin enabled.

Observe this video - At about 2:45, severe delay starts. New-lines appear several seconds after the new-line keys being pressed.

I cannot confirm VSCode 1.100 Windows 11
Added a video in the OP to illustrate. You should edit the file for a few minutes, the problem appears intermittently.
Does this reproduce in the latest VS Code insiders build with all extensions disabled?
I'm unable to test with latest VS Code insiders build because of https://github.com/microsoft/vscode/issues/219280 .
Is there a way to install it via flatpak so that I can try?
I already noted that just disabling just this one builtin extension solves the problem; and I need funkyremi.vscode-google-translate for my workflow.
Upgraded flatpak version to below and confirmed -
Version: 1.100.2

I'm not able to reproduce this. Please follow these instructions to collect performance information so we can see what's going on
Was easily able to replicate unresponsiveness upon simply enabling the markdown extension and doing some editing. attaching host profile.
sadly that cpuprofile shows nothing
but I do see that git is extremely slow in your screenshot try disabling git?
Yes - problem disappears when disabling git plugin while enabling markdown plugin; or while disabling markdown plugin while enabling git plugin.
Adding cpu profile, also reported a duplicate via the vscode "Report issue" interface at https://github.com/microsoft/vscode/issues/259522 in case it has additional useful info.
@vvasuki, sorry for not getting back to you on this until now. Are you still able to reproduce with the latest VS Code release?
