macOS Catalina latest supported version 🍎
Does this issue occur when all extensions are disabled?: Yes/No
- VS Code Version: 1.98.0
- OS Version: macOS Catalina 10.15.4
Steps to Reproduce:
- Can't open VSCode
- Error You can’t use this version of the application “Visual Studio Code” with this version of macOS. You have macOS 10.15.4. The application requires macOS 11.0 or later.
What is the latest version of VSCode supported by macOS Catalina so I can install it and disable updates?
Hope this is not a duplicate issue, as I couldn't find anything by searching the error text.
It looks like version 1.97.2 is currently the latest version supported on macOS Catalina
macOS 10.15 support has ended

@artkirienko based on the linked issues this seemed like an issue with brew installations, can this issue be closed ?
Do anyone have a work around to this, I can not update my system to 11.1? Is there a version that I can download and still use VS?
@Dquinnie2 are you updating vscode via brew ? The last working version for 10.15 is https://code.visualstudio.com/updates/v1_97, you can install that version and disable updates.

Warning: I just installed and ran 1.97, went in and turned off updates (set to 'none'). I close the app and open it back up and it updated ANYWAY! I trashed that copy, reunzipped it, put it in my Apps directory and LOCKED it. Other people may end up doing the same. Thanks Micro$oft! (NOT)
