It looks like version 1.97.2 is currently the latest version supported on macOS Catalina

macOS 10.15 support has ended

VS Code 1.97 is the last release that supports macOS 10.15 (macOS Catalina). Refer to our FAQ for additional information.

It can be downloaded here

@artkirienko based on the linked issues this seemed like an issue with brew installations, can this issue be closed ?

Do anyone have a work around to this, I can not update my system to 11.1? Is there a version that I can download and still use VS?

@Dquinnie2 are you updating vscode via brew ? The last working version for 10.15 is https://code.visualstudio.com/updates/v1_97, you can install that version and disable updates.

Warning: I just installed and ran 1.97, went in and turned off updates (set to 'none'). I close the app and open it back up and it updated ANYWAY! I trashed that copy, reunzipped it, put it in my Apps directory and LOCKED it. Other people may end up doing the same. Thanks Micro$oft! (NOT)
