What does the snippet icon represent?

Hi, this is not a bug, just a formal question regarding the snippet icon. I just can't see what does the snippet icon actually represent? I understand it's a square with a doted line at the bottom but I was wondering what exactly is it supposed to be?

I'm talking about symbol-snippet.svg
