Quickly forgets guidance (ie - be more concise)

  • VS Code Version: Version: 1.93.1
  • OS Version: Linux 6.10.6+bpo-rt-amd64 #1 SMP PREEMPT_RT Debian 6.10.6-1~bpo12+1 (2024-08-26) x86_64 GNU/Linux

Steps to Reproduce:

  1. Ask simple question
  2. Watch copilot rewrite entire app with a novella of background info
  3. Ask copilot to be more concise
  4. Get more concise output for a few minutes
  5. Ask new question and watch it spew again

It's not just copilot - ALL the chat models have gotten really really spewy in the past weeks/months. I get there will be model changes, but it doesn't remember instructions very long (like: only generate diffs unless asked, or don't rewrite code in response to questions unless asked).
