Allow tutorial author to specify tutorial format (left pane or top pane)

Especially for JavaScript/Python tutorials, the left-side tutorial pane is really not wide enough to show full lines of code. Would be great if tutorial authors could specify in the markdown whether to display the tutorial in the left or top pane.
