Some courses are having duplicate teams created

We're running Moodle 4.4.2 and plugin version 4.4.

We've just ran our initial sync to create teams for a defined list of courses but we've noticed some (about 5%) have duplicated. They seem to have been created seconds apart.

As an example this single course now has 2 teams, 1 was created a few seconds after the other,

Below is the team created. The second has a number appended to the email.

Both teams contain the exact same users and we're completely confused by how this is even possible.
