Any future plans for embedding ts-node or straight-up TS support? ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

Definitely.

We are now focusing on getting the basics right: stability, performance, addressing common message passing patterns. May take some time to get there, meanwhile we would love to accept feature contributions from the community.
