I used the git codespace to test the samples and none of the images are generating the markup. The output file is empty with errors.

hi, to work with jpg files, you'll need ExifTool and an OpenAI API key so markitdown can extract text and convert it

I don't understand why they aren't using an open-source OCR tool or an open-source model as it's an open-source project.

Feel free to create an issue or PR? You can always supply a custom client from OSS model eg Ollama.
