Guests do not see error messages or autocomplete

Open LucioMansilla opened this issue 2 years ago • 11 comments

During this last month I have tested and updated on different occasions

Although the shared servers of the same work fine, for some reason it does not show the guest the 'errors' of the code, nor suggestions, nor autocomplete.

I leave you some screenshots where I make a mistake on purpose and I don't get a response, it's as if it were a "flat" text with only colors...

Image 1, where the compiler should give me an error:

Image 2, where the errors tab is empty.

It should be remembered that in this case(session) I am a Guest of the session, but we have tried in a thousand ways and touched every possible configuration. I am exhausted, that is why I am going to help, thank you very much!

What was your system configuration? Product and Version [VS/VSCode]: Visual Studio 2022 17.0.5 OS Version[macOS/Windows]: Windows Live Share Extension Version: Last Version ( 1.0.5273.0) Target Platform or Language [e.g. Node.js]: .NET 6

Steps to Reproduce / Scenario:

  1. Go to new project
  2. Click on live share and share the url
  3. Ask the guest if he can see any error/warning messages or compiler hints

Thank you for the feedback. This should be fixed in Visual Studio 17.1 Previews. Does updating to a preview build of VS help out in your particular case?

Hello, thanks for the answer, we updated to preview 4 but it didn't work, What if now I remove the "column color", the "DattaAnottations", (it looks white), but it does not mark the errors in red. image

Now, I am going to attach a photo of the HOST, to show you another difference that I "noticed", That dotted line that connects the beginning and closing braces, cannot be seen by the guest either.

GUEST IMAGE: image

Thanks for the help EDIT: Now that I see the photos well, the references do not load either

On the other hand, IntelliSense suggestions work without problems image

Product and Version: Visual Studio 2022 17.1.5 OS Version: Windows Live Share Extension Version: 1.0.5431.1 Target Platform or Language: .NET 6

The issue with both errors and autocomplete persists. Guests also cannot see any errors in the Error List window.

@Lord-Mustang We are working on fixing this issue. This has been an inconsistent bug in our code and we are continously working on it. Does autocomplete never works for guest?

nandiniYeltiwar avatar Apr 21 '22 18:04 nandiniYeltiwar

@nandiniYeltiwar Yes, autocomplete never works in Visual Studio. However, if the guest joins via VS Code, autocomplete works fine.

Thanks @Lord-Mustang. What kind of project are you sharing? Is it client library/web application? From the screenshots its clear that you are using C# language.

Any update on this? Our team encountered the same problem when using Live Share.
