Changelog is out of date

Steps to Reproduce / Scenario:

  1. Go to https://github.com/MicrosoftDocs/live-share/releases
  2. See latest change listed at the top of the page as: v1.0.1377 (December 11th, 2019)
  3. Look at current version as reported on the https://marketplace.visualstudio.com/items?itemName=MS-vsliveshare.vsls-vs : 1.0.3684.0
  4. Notice that one is bigger than the other....

Additionally, the in-visix changes have been the same for the last few releases, including 1.0.3884.0

Thank you for re-opening.

I've been watching the in-visix changelog for the last few releases, and have a few observations:

  • Changes never get pushed down into a "prior release" item. The 1.0.3014 from 2020-10-15 is the latest release to be properly archived.
  • Releases since then either do nothing to the changelog or append to "latest".
    • The 2021-03-18 release 1.0.3998.0 appended to latest.
    • The 2021-03-30 release 1.0.4070.0 used verbatim the same changelog as 1.0.3998.0

This isn't stale, this is still an existing problem. The docs say the latest version is nearly 3 years old

Thank you for bringing this issue up. We have multiple places where we track changes and will plan to consolidate our release updates in one place for consistency.

Is there a publicly available issue somewhere that can be tracked for this? I understand your consolidation may apply to other products, but I'd be nice to have an issue I can look at and when it's closed say either "you missed live share" or "great, you included live share" (or comments concerning when live share will be done).

This is the right issue to track for Live Share's changelog. I'm adding it to our next quarter's milestone.

Thanks for your patience with this. The stale releases from https://github.com/MicrosoftDocs/live-share/releases have been removed. In the next Live Share VS Code extension update (expected next week) the CHANGELOG will also be updated to remove the stale entries. Moving forwards we'll strive to document important updates there - https://marketplace.visualstudio.com/items/MS-vsliveshare.vsliveshare/changelog.
