Can't login with Chromium or Opera on Ubuntu

Open AlterFalter opened this issue 5 years ago • 3 comments

I can't login on my Ubuntu on Live Share with Chromium or Opera. It does work when I change the default browser to Firefox.

Program: VSCode OS: Ubuntu 18.04.4 LTS

How the error occured:

  1. Installed Live Share Extension
  2. Click on 'Invite participants'
  3. Click on message to login
  4. Select 'Login with Microsoft'
  5. Browser opens (Chromium or Opera doesn't matter)
  6. Login to account (private or professional account didn't matter)
  7. Click on 'proceed'
  8. Pop up in browser occurs with something like: 'are you sure to let website execute xdg-open'
  9. Click on 'accept'
  10. nothing happens, VSCode doesn't receive anything

First I tried Opera, then Chromium and at the end Firefox

As a workaround, can you try running this command: Live Share: Disable VSCode account authentication? This will revert the authentication to the old flow. Please let us know if this unblocks you.

@BrunoGuardia this looks like another issue in built-in auth flow in VSCode. If it is so, we should bug them.
