No CentOS 9 repository on packages.microsoft.com

Open scottcunningham opened this issue 1 year ago • 1 comments

Describe the issue There is no CentOS 9 repository available on packages.microsoft.com -- see http://packages.microsoft.com/rhel/ - there are only repos for CentOS 6/7/8. RHEL 9 has a repository available - http://packages.microsoft.com/rhel/

When did the issue occur? N/A

If applicable, what package did you attempt to install, and from which repo? mdatp for CentOS 9

Steps to Reproduce

  • Look at http://packages.microsoft.com/centos/
  • There's no CentOS 9 repo

Actual Result

  • No repository

Expected Result

  • A CentOS 9 repo

Screenshots N/A

Additional context I'm trying to install mdatp on my company's fleet, but a portion of them are running CentOS 9 Stream. There is no CentOS 9 repo available, but there is RHEL9 (which should be almost the same).

The documentation mentions CentOS 6.7+ and CentOS 7.2+. It doesn't mention CentOS 8 despite the repo existing, and doesn't mention CentOS Stream or CentOS 9 Stream at all. https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/microsoft-365/security/defender-endpoint/microsoft-defender-endpoint-linux?view=o365-worldwide

Would it be possible to add CentOS 9 support?

Thanks!

For PowerShell, RHEL 9 is already supported and in theory should also work for CentOS 9. https://github.com/PowerShell/PowerShell/issues/17548.
