Several dashboard widgets blank, account and extension missing?
Dev Home version
0.401.212.0
Windows build number
10.0.23518.1000
Other software
OS Build Version: 10.0.23518.1000.amd64fre.ni_moment_directadept.230731-1436 .NET Version: .NET 6.0.20
Steps to reproduce the bug
- Configure and pin several Issue and Pull Request widgets to the Dashboard.
- Close the application and come back to it some indeterminate amount of time later (in my case probably on the order of a few days) with device reboots, etc. in between the two sessions.
Expected result
Dashboard is configured exactly as it was before.
Actual result
When I launched the app just now, I see that the only 1 of the 8 widgets is displaying any data (the others appear as though they are waiting to be configured).
I checked the Accounts and my GitHub identity is no longer showing up there. When I try to click to add an account, the app tells me that I have no extensions installed (though I see it installed and it's enabled in the UI).
(I know that the additional Preview entries are due to microsoft/devhome#1286 ; FWIW, I tried disabling those, closing the app, and relaunching, but the behavior was the same.)

Wondering if I'm missing an update to the GitHub extension? Its version number looks pretty old. If I try going to the PDP, I oddly don't see a button for updating it.
@adrastogi Those version numbers look right, we don't have a new canary build of the extension for this month yet, so we're still on 300s there.

Hi @adrastogi. It would be helpful for us if you could share your Dev Home logs. These logs can be found at %LOCALAPPDATA%\Packages\Microsoft.Windows.DevHome_8wekyb3d8bbwe\TempState and %LOCALAPPDATA%\Packages\Microsoft.Windows.DevHomeGitHubExtension_8wekyb3d8bbwe\TempState. You can share these folders via a OneDrive link or zip them and attach them to a comment here. If you share this way, you may want to look through the logs in case there are any details included that you would like to remove (for example, private repo names). Alternatively, you can open a Feedback Hub issue and attach them there. If you use Feedback Hub, please paste the URL at the bottom of the report here so we can easily find it.
Ah, thank you- that means the behavior I am seeing in the Store is (likely) by design (for some reason I thought there was a new Canary build of the extension 😅). I'm not near the device but will grab the logs for you later today.
@adrastogi There is a canary build of the main app (which you have), just not of the extension yet. The rest of behavior is definitely weird.

Filed the user feedback item here and attached logs to it: https://aka.ms/AAm0gmp

Nit: does this need to be updated to reference Canary paths too?

We don't publish the canary publicly, so I'd rather keep the message simple and hope that we remember to grab the right logs :)
I haven't seen this in a long time, and we have made enhancements in the area, so closing.
