Steps to reproduce the bug
Cause the Git extension to hit an error. For example, add an invalid repository path.
Expected result
Telemetry would be visible not just in the log.
Actual result
When encountering errors in the Git extension, this is only stored in the log.

Feels like P2, as it doesn't break any scenarios. But we'll have a much harder time being aware of lurking issues without telemetry.
