Other Software

I've changed my Graphics Card from a Nvidia GTX 970 to a Intel Arc B580 today. After this I couldn't use WSL anymore. The GPU Driver is 32.0.101.6257 and the WHQL only option in the GPU Software is turned on.

Actual Behavior

Getting the Error Message:

Additional Info what I already did:

Disabled the Windows-Subsystem for Linux, the Virtual Machine Plattform and the Hyper-V Features, rebooted and enabled them again.

also I ran wsl.exe --uninstall wsl.exe --update wsl.exe

all with the same outcome

Same issue here... Just swapped the GPUs in this case.

Today I tried a reinstall as described here Fix issues by reinstalling the current version of Windows - Microsoft Support and this helped. WSL is working again.

Yeah, unfortunately no luck here... I'm gonna have to keep digging.

Update

So far I've tried:

  1. Putting the GPUs in the previous order.
  2. Manually re-installing all virtualization components - Containers, HyperV, Virtual Machine Platform, WSL.
  3. Reinstalling the Current Version of Windows.
  4. Rolling back Windows to a restore point from before the change - after rolling back WSL is broken and needs reinstall, which then results in the same issue.
  5. Trying with other distros...

Final Update: I abandoned WSL and simply installed Ubuntu on Hyper-V. Everything is working fine and took less than a minute to set up...

I solved it enabling Hyper-V on control panel, restarting, and then with a wsl.exe --uninstall. Installed wsl again and it's working now.

and without uninstalling? ... because it means we have to backup evthing before doing this
