WSA Text-to-Speech Voice Doesn't Adapt to Selected Windows Speech Voice

Open raaomoka opened this issue 1 year ago • 2 comments

Steps to reproduce

  1. Navigate to WSA Hidden Settings > System > Languages & input > Text-to-speech output image
  2. Tap/Click the "Play" button and listen to the "Windows default app" voice that's being used (it was Microsoft Richard in my case).
  3. Tap/Click the Preferred engine settings gear.
  4. Under the "Voices" section, change the Windows Speech voice to something else (e.g. Microsoft David).
  5. Click the "Preview Voice" button and listen to the voice that's being used.
  6. Switch back to the WSA Text-to-speech output window, Tap/Click the "Play" button and listen to the voice that's being used.

✔️ Expected Behavior

Voice that's being heard at step 6. above should match what was just selected and heard at step 5. above.

❌ Actual Behavior

Voice that's being heard at step 6. doesn't match what was just selected and heard at step 5. above.

Microsoft's "fix" was to end WSA support: https://github.com/microsoft/WSA/discussions/536#discussion 🫤
