Command Palette Web Search Alias cannot be overridden

Open VArterJr opened this issue 7 months ago • 1 comments

Microsoft PowerToys version

0.91.0

Installation method

PowerToys auto-update

Area(s) with issue?

Command Palette

Steps to reproduce

If you change the Alias of the Command Palette **Web Search_ extension, it doesn't seem to actually change it. This is causing issues if I want a similar alias for another extension.

Please see example in Actual Behavior below.

✔️ Expected Behavior

If you change the Web Search to someting other than ?w it should respect that and not override other ones that are similar. I want to hit the spacebar to activate the extension (as documented) and not have to do something special because it seems Web Search hard hooks ?w.

❌ Actual Behavior

Example: I changed Web Search Alias to ?ws and WinGet Alias to ?wg. When you access Command Palette and type ?w it immediately chooses Web Search. I am using Indirect on all of my extensions.

Can you share the contents of %LocalAppData%\Packages\Microsoft.CommandPalette_8wekyb3d8bbwe\LocalState\settings.json?

I think this is probably the same thing as #38817 but your settings file would be a giveaway

Pretty sure that this was /dup #38167, and it should be fixed in PT0.91 / CmdPal 0.2.0
