Windows Project (win+p) alternative

Open vonvenera opened this issue 1 year ago • 1 comments

Description of the new feature / enhancement

Win+P has been around since Windows XP. An in all these years it hasn't changed, while multiple monitor setups have became more mainstream. For example, I have 3 displays connected to my PC and TV (through receiver), all with different capabilities (VRR, HDR, 144Hz, 120Hz,...)

We need a utility that will let you create profiles for different situations, so you can set up system for work / play / multimedia with 1 click. For example:

Profile 1 (gaming): only main display (42 inch oled tv) enabled with HDR and VRR, but resolution lowered from 4k to 3840x1600 for widescreen gaming, everything else off.

Profile 2 (work) main display (HDR off) 4k resolution enabled, 2x side displays enabled, TV off

Profile 3 (TV) only TV on (65 inch oled), if possible enable Dolby Atmos or any other spacial sound.

Ideally profile could be selected with single click or similar to current functionality (ctrl+alt+p) to switch between profiles.

I have given up on MS updating Windows Project to modern times.

Scenario when this would be used?

Any system with multiple monitors/TVs that needs fine control of display resolution/features/... and multiple different profiles.
