PowerToys Run can't be activated

Open dfirnewbie opened this issue 1 year ago • 2 comments

Microsoft PowerToys version

0.81.1

Installation method

GitHub

Running as admin

No

Area(s) with issue?

PowerToys Run

Steps to reproduce

  1. Open PowerToys
  2. On the left side, click on PowerToys Run
  3. Press the buttons to activate PowerToys Run (default is Alt + Space)

✔️ Expected Behavior

PowerToys Run launcher is shown

❌ Actual Behavior

No launcher pops up. I've tried with various settings, changing the default activation shortcut to Alt + R, checking the "Centralized keyboard hook" box, but nothing will trigger it. I've even tried it from the Quick Access menu, but it still doesn't run. I've also tried clicking on "Welcome to PowerToys" > "PowerToys Run" > Launch PowerToys Run, but it still doesn't trigger it.

If any, on my personal computer, it works. However, it doesn't work on my Lenovo laptop (ThinkPad T14 Gen 3).

I've attached a bug report to see if it helps with the troubleshooting? PowerToysReport_2024-06-18-00-36-40.zip

Does this fail if you don't have your extra plugins installed? /needinfo

When I reinstalled it without the plugins, it still fails.

Some more information:

Sometimes, it would work after restarting the laptop, but only once. Subsequent attempts to launch it will fail.

For me it works whenever I've updated PowerToys. After rebooting it stops working. I can also stop and restart it and it will keep working, but only after the update.
