Text extraction: Change language on system shortcut

Open evinnichenko opened this issue 1 year ago • 1 comments

Description of the new feature / enhancement

Right now AFAIK the only way to change language in OCR is to use the menu on top. I suggest that a) Language of OCR follows the currently active input language b) Language can be changed inside OCR mode by using system's keyboard shortcut instead of opening the menu with a mouse.

Scenario when this would be used?

When user has multiple languages installed and wants to use OCR on some text, it is easier to change the language with keyboard shortcut rather than dragging mouse up and making two more clicks, followed by dragging it back to the text.

Great ask but Win11's snipping tool can handle different languages by default and seamlessly. While it would be a good feature, this isn't a feature we'd be adding into PowerToys.

This is not so much a new feature, as much as it is improvement of something that already exists - and not everyone use Win11, so Text Extractor is useful for many.
