Only download updates if user decides to update

Open Lemorz56 opened this issue 9 months ago • 1 comments

Description of the new feature / enhancement

Currently updates are stacked no matter if the user wants to update or not. They are only deleted if the user decides to update which seems unnecessary? image

This is mentioned in https://github.com/microsoft/PowerToys/issues/13296#issuecomment-1913299832

I think it would be better do download the update if the user decides to update or at maximum keep the latest installer only.

Scenario when this would be used?

There is no point in saving all updates that only will be deleted if the user updates to the newest and I think it would be nice to not take up any unnecessary space.

Hi @Lemorz56

I verified and this behavior has been fixed on the latest version but you are still using an old one 😃

You can also disable automatic download of the updates from PowerToys settings. image

Out of curiosity: what's the reason for keep using an outdated version of PowerToys?

@davidegiacometti Okey, great! Tried looking at the release notes but I couldn't find an entry of fixing that, probably missed it.

No specific reason for using an older version, haven't had any issues in the modules I've used or had any bugs combined with a bad habit of not updating 😄
