Steps to reproduce
Go to settings and change the font to something really obvious (e.g. 12 or 24), then open PT Run. Observe that the change had no effect on the hints. Type something and observe that the change did effect both query and results. Erase that and observe the 16pt hints again.

Hints' font size changes with the rest of the text

Hints stay at 16pt

I think this is expected, according to the original PR. https://github.com/microsoft/PowerToys/pull/30541 @niels9001 , perhaps changing both is expected?
So, to give additional illustration for the issue, a GIF with me changing font and the hints' size pretty clearly not being changed. IMO, if you change font of one, you should also change font of the other, to avoid situations like "I cranked font to max, but still can't see hints on my 4k 21" monitor". I don't know what Niels wanted specifically, but his demo GIF, funnily enough, didn't show hints.
