Remapped WIN key not working for Game Bar

Open schroef opened this issue 2 years ago • 6 comments

Microsoft PowerToys version

v0.75.1

Installation method

Microsoft Store

Running as admin

Yes

Area(s) with issue?

Keyboard Manager

Steps to reproduce

  1. open keyboard manager
  2. Setup Alt for Windows Key
  3. Setup Windows key for Alt
  4. Pressing both win+G as alt+g opens game bar

✔️ Expected Behavior

Only the new set windows key should use on system shortvuts. Bascially all system shortcuts are now available with both win+KEY as alt+key. Other apps do work fine, Windows it self seems to have no resource of keyboard manager running.

❌ Actual Behavior

Both the new remapped key as the original work both for the shortcuts. For example WIN mapped to ALT will now both work for any system shortcut.

Other Software

No response

Hello and thanks for your message. Do you have a screenshot of the settings? It would help a lot.

I have the exact same problem. Seems to happen with any WINkey shortcut, including Winkey+arrow window snapping.

Fancyzones no longer respects the "new" Winkey (alt) as a trigger, even with the override toggle in place. It seems that however Keyboard Manager currently intercepts keystrokes is not evaluated higher than the OS.

Ive also noticed after a restart the key-swap doesnt work, until i active or view the tray menu. By simply opening the menu, than, the key-swap does work. Its kinda weird

I noticed like in File Explorer environment, so basically Windows itself. When i press the alt, bith WIN and ALT get pressed. Notice here with the On-Screen keyboard, how randomly both buttons are pressed. What im doing here is pressing WIN and ALT on after the other, i did not press them both at the same time. I think this also kinda shows the remapped keys are buggy
