Mouse Without Borders Connection not reestablished without clicking refresh connections in settings
Microsoft PowerToys version

Installation method

Running as admin
Yes
Area(s) with issue?
Mouse Without Borders
Steps to reproduce
PowerToysReport_2023-07-12-14-47-15.zip Two computers are connected on the same LAN, vLAN, subnet, and switch. One running Windows 11 22621.1992 , and the other running Windows 10 19045.3086
Mouse Without Boarders is installed as a service and running as Administrator on both systems.
✔️ Expected Behavior
Running as a service, Mouse Without Borders should connect to other correctly configured machines on startup. It should not be necessary to refresh connections or open the settings panel to make changes to get it to connect.
❌ Actual Behavior
Mouse Without Borders can connect and seems to work fine until one device gets powered off or otherwise disconnected.
After either system is restarted or disconnected from the LAN it's necessary to open the setting panels and click Refresh Connections. It's not clear whether or not it matters which PC you do this on. The other system may appear with a purple outline.

I am experiencing the same issue. I actually came here to suggest a feature of having a keyboard shortcut for "Refresh connections" and was looking to see if it was already suggested before posting a new request.
Same here. I'm remote-operating my work laptop in my home network to share keyboard and mouse. The laptop comes with a company VPN that cuts off all connections temporarily while reconnecting or switching networks (LAN/WLAN) or when resuming from standby.
MWB seems to only do a single connection try and if that fails, it gives up forever. There should be regular quick retries to respond to network changes without long interruption of service. Not being able to operate the remote machine feels like being paralysed. Then I have to navigate several icons and clicks with the laptop's touchpad to restore things that could easily be automatic. The computer should work for me, not the other way around.
I'm having a trouble where MWB only starts up when i login, do you guys know how to figure this out?
It's even more broken than I had imagined. It even supports half connections. One side says it's connected and can control the other side, but the other end doesn't know anything about it and shows no connection status and can't control the other - despite being controlled from the other side. Is this even secure if it can accept input without a connection?
I can confirm this issue is also affecting me. I have to manually press "refresh connections" every time I boot up the child machine.
Issue still exists in v0.81.1. Would love to see this fixed.
Use Input Director instead. This thing here will never be fixed it seems.
