Area(s) with issue?
FancyZones
Steps to reproduce
Test with Windows Explorer :
- Check "Move newly created windows in their last known zone" (or something similar to this, hope you allow language selection in future)
- Open Windows Explorer using WIN+E
- Select the bottom left zone
- Close Windows Explorer
- Reopen Windows Explorer using WIN+E
- The window open out of zone
Test with File Locksmith
- Open Windows Explorer and right click a PDF file
- Select "What's using this file?" (by the way, you forgot to translate this using locale language)
- Set the window that just opened in a zone
- Close the windows
- Right click the same PDF file
- Select "What's using this file?"
- The windows open out of zone and wrong size
✔️ Expected Behavior
Windows should open in their zone with right size.
❌ Actual Behavior
Windows open out of their zone and are something of the wrong size.
Other Software
I am using Windows 11. The windows was always in their zone when I were using Windows 10, except for Windows Explorer (and some others I don't remember) that was out of zone when opening more than one window at once using WIN-E multiple times.
I have a similar effect since the last update. I am using Win 10 (22H2, latest patches applied) and the "Priority grid" (don't know how its spelled in english, it's the one with a big middle zone and two smaller zones left and right).
When I start programs that were snapped to the right zone, they appear for fraction of a second on the right, but then jump to the left zone.
It does NOT happen always with the same programs, I have not yet found out a constant pattern here. But it SEEMS (I can't prove it) to happen more often with the modern apps installed over the MS store. Not sure about that.
Experiencing a similar issue with this feature after upgrading to 0.70.0. Unfortunately it's not consistent and hard to nail down what is causing it but Firefox and Chrome at the very least does not snap to an existing zone, same with File Explorer.
I use a 4K TV screen as a monitor with Windows 11. I open File Explorer in the bottom left corner of my screen. FancyZones is supposed to remember the zone where File Explorer was open last time. If I select the zone for File Explorer, then close it and then press WIN+E multiple times to open multiple File Explorer windows, the first window open at the bottom left, but a little bit out of the zone. The top position is maybe 15–20 pixels higher and the same for the left position. The other File Explorer windows open on the top left corner of my screen in cascades, so FancyZones does not try to assign them to any zone when there is more than one File Explorer window open.
DisplayFusion is working 100% fine and always move all the File Explorer windows at the exact position and size I choose even if I open many windows at the same time. That application doesn’t use zones, but triggers. The windows are moved after the “Window Created” event.
Could FancyZones be fixed using a similar way to move windows as DisplayFusion? FancyZones is kind of useless since I use Windows 11 here. It was working much better with Windows 10 in my case.
