What OCR language(s) do you have installed, and which one were you using to do this extraction?

those 3:

Name : Language.OCR~~~de-DE~0.0.1.0 State : Installed

Name : Language.OCR~~~en-GB~0.0.1.0 State : Installed

Name : Language.OCR~~~en-US~0.0.1.0 State : Installed

just tried again with each set as "Preferred language" on above image. will still only extract: "Crop :" (v0.72.0 of powertoys)

I am unable to reproduce this issue. When I select the image at the top, I get this:

crop : 2560x1440 960x1440

Can you share a screenshot of your display configurations from Windows Settings, maybe it has something to do with the display settings not properly translating the coordinates.

that's not it. let me demonstrate by using text extractor on this: 2023-08-30 19 14 05 this is what lands in clipboard:

Here is me testing this with Text Extractor for the first time. Very strange to me that just the numbers are missing for you. Do you have any clipboard utilities installed? I don't understand why it would work with Text Grab and not Text Extractor, it is the same code. 🤔

i do have "ditto" installed. (EDIT: i get the same Result when Ditto isn't running in BG) and i can make a GIF as well if u like me to xD

A GIF of you reproducing the error might be helpful.

TheJoeFin avatar Aug 31 '23 18:08 TheJoeFin

sure, here u go: first one is with shortcut (powertoys). 9/9 times it only captured "crop : ". with textgrab.exe it worked 4/4 times. Recording 2023-08-31 203024 x (2) (tho sometimes it would partly work, recognizing only "960x1440" or "2560x1440" with powertoys)

Similar problem, yet different.

Text Extractor keeps recognizing the first 1 as "I"

image

recognized text: "IZAE9"

easy enough to catch the error, because its the first symbol this is from a long UID, an error further back might be harder to catch.

there are only digits after the three letters, those are all correct

lmk if i should open a separate bug report

Unfortunately, the underlying OCR engine cannot be improved by me or anyone on the PowerToys team. I am working on the option of using Tesseract with Text Grab but there are still several issues with an outside dependency like that.

@tazztone Are you still having this issue with numbers not being copied? /needinfo
