File Locksmith - option to show in extended context menu only

Open jeffress opened this issue 3 years ago • 1 comments

Description of the new feature / enhancement

Like the options for PowerRename, we should have an option that shows the File Locksmith menu item in the regular context menu or in the extended context menu only.

Scenario when this would be used?

It is rare that I need to look up a lock, but this is a wonderful item to have nearby when I need it. So I would like this powertool to behave like PowerRename does: it isn't present for every right-click, but when needed, user can hit the shift key, and there it is, conveniently located in the extended context menu.

Supporting information

Many windows tools tend to throw items onto the context menu, and too many items gum it up. I currently have 5 different tools that have added things to the standard windows context menu items. It's a welcome courtesy when a program gives you the option to control/stop the placement, and I often turn them off if possible. I appreciate that PowerRename has this option - it isn't always there, but a quick shift+right click and there it is.

Could I add that there should ideally be an option for this to also be promoted to the Windows 11 new context menu as well, but maybe as a submenu under a general PowerToys menu (I have submitted a specific feature request about the submenu idea here)
