Steps to reproduce

1. Launch layout editor
2. Edit the enabled layout
3. Set 'Space around zones' slider to any non-zero value
4. Deactivate 'Space around zones' toggle Notice zones look correct, no spacing
5. Save layout, close editor
6. Drag a window to reveal zone layout

✔️ Expected Behavior

Zones have no space around them when toggle is deactivated.

❌ Actual Behavior

Zones have the specified spacing value applied whether toggle is active or not.

Updated FancyZones and my zones now have space around them despite it being disabled.

Also, I hate the slider only adjustment and can't set the spacing to 0 because of it.

I think having an edit box where you could type in the value would be a good idea.

And I agree that toggling off the "space around zones" should make there be no space around zones, not what seems to be the defail of 10.

As for the behavior, its a bug with the latest version. It behaved as expected in previous versions.

I can confirm that. After the update I had a space around my zones, but the toggle was set to off.

To fix that I had to activate the toggle, set the slider to 0px and reactivate the toggle.

Dragging the slider to zero is possible for me, but dragging all the way to the left gives a spacing of -10. This feels like a bug because the editor window itself resizes to accommodate the "-" character, which makes sliding to zero very difficult as the slider jiggles as the window resizes.

I am able to get -10 by dragging all the way to the left as well. And then zones actually overlapped. I was not able to drag it to a zero value as it jumped around too much. That is when I found that I could use the keyboard to move the slider left or right in increments of 1.

Yeah, 1000UX is a bit overkill. Alternatively, I'd like to see an option for negative values to "overlap scrollbars and titles"

For me, the gaps are also coming back when switching monitors despite the slider showing 0 pixel gaps in the editor. It even does it when switching back to a monitor that was already saved with the 0px gap.

Agree, same issue here upon upgrading to 0.64 - I had previously disabled borders on the zones. @jr0dsgarage an alternative solution I found to downgrading was to re-enable borders but then set to 0px (had to use cursor keys - also raised by someone else as a bug in #21744). Worked fine before in 0.63 apart from [Shift] when dragging occasionally being ignored after initial boot.

Note identical issue also raised in #21804 #21790 #21789 #21756 #21754 #21760 #21806 so has clearly been noticed by lots of people!

Same here. My situation:

• I have two monitors.
• Picking layout, changing numbers of rows and columns works fine.
• "Space around zones" toggle is ignored. Even when it's turned off, the number on the left is used.
• When I set "Space around zone" to zero on slider, it works as what I want.

For those struggling to get to a ZERO spacing configuration, once you enable the spacing toggle you can click on the slider to set focus, then use your arrow keys to increment the value up or down by one for each press of the arrow.

And, FWIW I agree that when the spacing toggle is OFF that no spacing should be used... regardless of the slider's value. This seems pretty clearly a bug to me. If by design, it's a poor one.

https://github.com/microsoft/PowerToys/releases/tag/v0.64.1 fixed this. I just upgraded and tested and it works for me :) I even enabled spaces again, edited the px with the slider and disabled the toggle again to test.

Nice. But while the toggle did not work I set it to -1 according to some advice. Now this issue is fixed it's obvious for me that there's 1 pixel gap. I wish the following issues will be also fixed in the next release. https://github.com/microsoft/PowerToys/issues/18859
