Add characters such as "ā" (characters with macrons) to quick accent and text extractor

Open SirEthanator opened this issue 2 years ago • 7 comments

Description of the new feature / enhancement

I'd like to be able to do macrons. For example, maybe I want to type "Māori". I'd like quick accent to allow me to type the "ā" character. Text extractor also does not recognize characters with macrons. If I try to copy the word "Māori" with text extractor, I end up with "Mäori".

Scenario when this would be used?

When attempting to use the new quick accent tool or text extractor.

This is a specific request, would you like to update the title, so that it's easier to find? We have many, many suggestions like this.

To help with searching (I came to report the same issue with recognising te reo Māori), the line above is called a macron.

Thanks, I'll update it. I always forget things like that. One moment I know a word, then I have to use it and realize that I've forgotten the word. Just another one of those times

As for the extractor part; you might want to look into the installed language packs in Windows.

The extractor part was what I was going to raise an issue about. I have Māori as my default keyboard and have the Māori language pack installed, still recognises macrons as dots not a dash.

Definitely support this. I can't understand why āēīōū and ĀĒĪŌŪ are not there already?

It's a first version. There have been numerous issues about all kinds of letters and languages.

Māori is not a supported OCR Language by the OCR Engine. This feature is out of scope for Text Extractor.
