Steps to reproduce

With Teams open, switch layouts in FancyZones. Broken notification window like in attached screenshot.

Where I most notice this is when my PC is locked and a Teams message arrives, the notification is broken (stuck) until the next notification message occurs.

✔️ Expected Behavior

No notification window appears when switching layouts. No stuck notification after unlocking screen.

❌ Actual Behavior

Empty, stuck notification window in wrong location.

There are two FancyZones Settings that deal with child/pop-up windows. Can you try if those help, maybe combined with "Move newly created windows to their last known zone" setting?

I tried all of these options in different combinations and it made no difference.

I experience exactly the same issue. I am running Windows 10 with 0.61.1. I have Microsoft Teams Version 1.5.00.21463 (64-bit). This bug has been present for quite multiple months (through multiple updates of Windows, Teams and PowerToys).

This 'orphaned' window can be moved around so I use FancyZones to move it to a corner in my second monitor where it does not bother. The only way to resolve it is to quit MS Teams completely from the taskbar and reopen it.

I have the first 6 options in Windows behavior settings for FancyZones on and the last two off. I am now turning those last two on as well and will see if that makes a difference.

In case it helps with figuring out the cause behind this.. This also occurs when changing resolution, at least when in a teams call and changing resolution. I'm assuming it happens outside of calls as well.

Another "me too" It seems to have gotten worse with Windows 11 BTW. I'm trying some different options under "Window Behavior" now to see if they make it better or worse. I'll update this case if find anything useful.

I've had everything off in the "Window behavior" section for a while now and have not experienced this once.
I'll try turning on one feature at a time starting with "Move newly created windows to their last known zone" to see if that breaks it.

@sarg3nt, thanks for this suggestion. This also seems to have worked for me. Annoying to not have some of these features, but I'll also try enabling them until it breaks again.

After more trial and error, the following option definitely causes this issue for me.

During zone layout changes, windows assigned to a zone will match new size/positions

Is this issue still reproducible on PowerToys 0.75.1? /needinfo

I've turned on Teams pop-up notifications and re-enabled the option above and the issue has not happened yet after several hours.

Thank you for the quick reply! We can close the issue if it's no longer reproducible. Feel free to reopen if it happens again.
