Proposal to improve context menu for Awake
Description of the new feature / enhancement
This is related to #11996, but my focus is not on the icon, rather it is about the context menu.
The current context menu in Awake is extremely confusing. Apparently, there two different options to turn it "off".
Moreover, the "mode" sub-menu does not make much sense and provides limited duration options. Other Caffeine-style apps, especially on macOS provide a straightforward operation.
Proposal
Ditch the current context menu and replace it with something like this:
Off
5 minutes
10 minutes
30 minutes
1 hour
2 hours
6 hours
Custom...
Indefinitely
---------
Exit
The options above the horizontal line should have a checkbox near them to show which one is currently active. This should probably be combined with some sort of countdown timer visible somewhere.
Scenario when this would be used?
This is important for the user to quickly toggle Awake on for a pre-defined amount of time.

Thanks for your message and examples. This is a Duplicate of another issue: #17343
@Jay-o-Way thank you for mentioning that one. It did not show up when I used the search bar.
However, I think the proposed solution over there is different from mine. Firstly, it does not account for a "custom" option nor a handful selection of different pre-defined durations.
It also seems to preserve the "Keep Screen On" row, which doesn't make sense from a usability POV.
I would say this feature request is suggesting a quite different solution for a common problem, rather than a duplicate.
Well, you've got a point. I can take the label off, but I can't garantee somebody else will mark it again, because the problem is basically the same.
No problems regarding the label, I just wanted to explain my proposal better. 🙂
I agree there is a single problem, that has two different proposed solutions. If using a single issue leads to an easier workflow, I will gladly accept it.
@dend thoughts?
Can we include "Until shutdown"?
Off
5 minutes
10 minutes
30 minutes
1 hour
2 hours
6 hours
Custom...
Indefinitely
Until shutdown
---------
Exit
Consolidating the issue in #17343.
