Running as admin
- [ ] Yes
Area(s) with issue?
PowerToys Run
Steps to reproduce
Search for Word application.
(Only seeing this with Office 2016 on my pc at work.)
✔️ Expected Behavior
Only one entry for MS Word. / Not seeing the entry from Windows Installer folder.
❌ Actual Behavior

Other Software
- Microsoft Office 2016 (MSI)
- Windows 10 21H2 (Patch level April 2022)
@htcfreek , when you click to open the path, does it open the installer folder or the folder where there's a shortcut to that entry?

- The one with correct exe path goes to desktop and is a normal shortcut.
- The one with installer folder goes to start menu and is an advertised msi shortcut.
If you have an entry in Start Menu, it will show in Programs. I don't think we can make a rule here to choose what's a valid program or not in the user's behalf. Does this make sense? Perhaps deleting the shortcut from the start menu would be the way here in your local configuration.

I see that we can't skip it. But doesn't it make sense to ...
- deduplicate it in the way that shortcuts with the same name and a traget under windows installer folder will be hidden?
- try to show the correct exe file path? (Or do we start the one under windows installer folder?)
If it's in the user's start menu, I think we should treat it as a valid application, even if it's inside windows installer. That's some OEM application if I understood it correctly. The idea of showing the executable path in the listing makes sense for win32 apps, though. That's a nice idea.

No it's no oem app. It's MS Office 2016.

This feature exists.
But it shows the path under windows installer because it's an advertised msi shortcut. These shortcuts normally don't show a path in their properties. They show the app name.
This feature exists.
It's in the tooltip, right? I'm talking about adding the path to the listing in PowerToys Run results alongside "Anwendung"
I think it's in the tooltip. Once again, perhaps we need to add the Path to the listing? But this information should be in the tooltip already. /needinfo
Hello, appreciate any help on this issue?
I also see similar issue but with Edge WebApps.
